Six Best Apps for a Happier Life

1. Slowly.

Slowly is a penpal app that helps you connect with penpals from all around the world. You can choose to send photos (or not) as well. It’s better than email because your letter takes hours or even a couple of days to deliver depending on where the person lives in the world in relation to where you live. So it’s more of a real pen pal experience with the convenience of being able to type the letter on your phone and not have to run to the Post Office. One of my pen pals has become like a sister to me.

2. ColorNote

This app has a calendar function as well as a notes function for making lists of things you need to do or want to do. And you can choose from several colors to help you color coordinate your plans. I keep my appointments in my color note app.

3. Mastery

The 10,000 Hour Rule is that it takes 10,000 hours of practice to master a skill. Mastery lets you track different skills, and clock hours toward mastering your chosen endeavors.

4. Woebot

Woebot is an AI program designed to help you work through your feelings, and can be set up to check in with you daily.

5. Diaro

As much as I love keeping paper diaries, I absolutely have to have my digital diary. It lets me incorporate photos, record the weather and any locations I’ve been at, and and chart my mood. You can sort your entries by date and by tag, and color code everything. You can choose from a light theme or a dark theme. Personally I like the dark theme because I feel like it makes my colors really pop. But it’s a great way to keep diary entries while incorporating all the photos you took with your phone that day. It gives you something great to look back on. And you can back it up to Dropbox.

6. Daylio

If you’re looking for something that will help you track habits and moods, this is your app. You can track hobbies, cleaning, laundry, sleep, anything at work, and your mood, and it charts and graphs information from that. For instance you can see that you tend to be at your best on days when you do embroidery. Now from that you can draw the conclusion that you only feel like doing embroidery when you’re at your best, but it can be the other way around where you realize that doing embroidery or whatever your chosen activity is helps your mood.

  1. Wow, that sounds like a cool pen-pal experience. But for me, pen and paper always triumphs. There’s just something about the entire process that’s kinda therapeutic. Anyway, thanks for these recommendations!

    1. I love pen and paper too, but when your handwriting is as bad as mine is being able to type the letters is great! Thanks for visiting my corner of the web!
