Being Intentional With my Social Media

I don’t want to spend too much time on Instagram, but I do want to post often and see posts by creators and friends that I like. To that end, I’m being more deliberate with my time. Honestly, lately, I have been on less anyway because I’ve been so busy and then sick – and because I’ve been reading a lot. I’m having a hard time keeping up with messages. But I want to maintain my accounts.

Sometimes I block social media for certain parts of the day so that I can do housework or write uninterrupted. Homemaking is a job, and I try to stay on top of it. Writing poetry is my passion, not doom scrolling, so why spend more time scrolling than writing?

When my life is over, I won’t wish I spent more time online. I will want to look back on family memories. Maybe on a lifetime of poetry too as a secondary thing. I want to have lived a life for God.

    1. That is totally reasonable! Social media for work or social causes can be a good thing. It’s different than just doom scrolling. I don’t have a business to run, but I do have other reasons for being on there. In spite of that, I need frequent micro fasts of social media to stay refreshed. I hope you can find a balance that works for you and leaves you feeling refreshed.
