Sometimes, I wonder if I talk about too much on this blog. I have poetry and art and submission and marriage and literature and photography and family stuff and mental health posts. You could definitely say I don’t narrow in on a niche! But my life, like everyone else’s, is complex and real. As a submissive, traditional wife, I want to show that. Living a traditional lifestyle gives me the freedom to pursue creative endeavors. When you stay home, yes, you have work to do. But the schedule can be incredibly flexible, and it leaves you with plenty of time to explore your creativity, which is an essential element of femininity. Staying at home has given me fulfillment on a level a job never could. I spend half or so of the day serving the family I love and the other half creating things that call to my heart.
Blogging experts tell you to pick a niche and stick with it, but that diminishes the wholeness of the writer. I am my own brand, though saying that makes me feel ill at ease. But I don’t want one blog on Bipolar Disorder and another blog on homebaking and another blog on art and another blog on writing. I do have a blog that’s just for writing (http://www.windchimesandstars.com/) , but I like letting this blog be a catch all.
Honestly, living a life of submission to God and my husband brings out a lot of my creativity because it brings out my femininity. Patriarchy has many benefits for women. I like to let this blog show that I am a real person and an individual because sometimes online, especially when you write about trad stuff and more right wing living, you get reduced to a soulless stereotype. But I am very much a real person with flaws and passions.
So does a blog need a niche? Maybe, but what if the author is the niche? This blog is Lisa – Christian, trad wife, mother, poet, artist, Bipolar sufferer, and picture taker. Thank you for being here. I hope you enjoy the space, and maybe take a spark of inspiration with you – whether it’s to obey your husband or make a painting.
