A Lovely Sunday

I attended OCIA today and learned about the liturgical calendar. There’s more to it than I really realized. Christmas isn’t just one day. There are so many celebrations of different biblical things and saints in the Catholic Church that you have some special observance rather regularly. I feel a little overwhelmed and yet happy. Sometimes Protestantism feels bare bones to me. Maybe that’s not fair. It’s just simpler. But this gives you more opportunities to be devoted to your faith. I have a book that tells you what saint is celebrated on each day of the year. It’s fascinating.

Then we went home, had lunch, and watched The Passion of the Christ. It was A’s first time seeing it. Watching it was difficult, but I felt it was time for A to get a better grasp of how tremendous Jesus’s sacrifice for us really was. She turned her head when they put the nails in, which is fine, but mostly she watched it with us. She’s 12. It’s time. She needs to deepen her faith.

Now we’re watching True Grit. I’ve also been Bible journaling. It’s just a nice day. I like relaxing weekends. Yesterday was stressful, but today, there’s been peace.
