Lovely Day

Today we went into the city to go to an art museum dedicated to what is traditionally seen as craft or woman’s work. It was fascinating! There were some really deep, beautiful things there, and I got some nice photos.

We went out to lunch after the museum, then went back to town and grabbed ice cream. It was a diet splurge day, which means I need to be strict tomorrow.

After we got home, I took a nap with C. It felt so good. Then, I worked on a couple of paintings. The first is the really big one I’m working on. I have not taken any pictures of it. It’s nowhere near ready. I am letting another layer of it dry before adding more. But I did complete a smaller painting I have enjoyed making. It is highly textured, and I like how it looks. I am no professional and have never taken a painting course, but I love acrylics. Watercolor is nice too. Soft pastel is my favorite medium overall. But I always come back to acrylics. I love how easy it is to make it thick and textured and how rich the color is. Playing with paint makes me happy.

I have been painting all week. Honestly I have been super busy in general. Every day I volunteer to monitor recess at A’s school. It cuts my day in half. I am happy to help, but being out of the house this much is an adjustment. I am really a homebody homemaker. The school requires 20 hours of volunteering a year, which, of course, I need to take care of because I’m the one at home. But when all is said and done, I will do much more than that. I’m glad to do it. They are bending the parking rules for me and letting me park on school property because of my ankle/foot. I really appreciate it. Otherwise, volunteering would be painful.

Did not finish. Left gaps. But I kind of like it. I used yellow ochre, which I have literally never used before because I typically avoid brownish colors. For these, I didn’t.
A trial piece.

I need to work on my poetry book. C needs to help A with Latin, as she has been struggling with it.

Sorry I have not written in a while. The past couple of weeks have just been a real change. I will be back to writing in you again regularly, little blog.
