The Beauty of Instant Photography

One of my favorite tools in my creative toolbox is my Instax Mini 11 camera. I love the soft, dream like quality of the photos. Having prints instantly is also pretty nice. I like photographs I can hold in my hand and save. Of course a lot of shots don’t come out great, at least not by the standards of digital photography. They may be blurry, or over or under exposed. But that’s part of the magic for me. If I want precision I shoot digital. If I want otherworldliness I use my Instax Mini 11.

Here are some photos I have taken with it.

Those are iguanas.

Instax Mini cameras perform best on cloudy days or in indoor spaces. You should never get to close to the object you’re trying to focus on. But look at this photograph of my husband and daughter above. See how soft and glowing and dreamy it is? It best captures my feelings about my life as a stay at home mom.
