19 Facts to Get to Know Me

To try and get back in the swing of writing a personal blog again, I’m going to write 19 facts about me that you may or may not know.

1. I have mild synesthesia. For instance, some songs have a flavor to me. Poker Face by Lady Gaga makes me automatically salivate because it tastes like sour blue raspberry. The number 16 has a high pitch and tastes like frosting.
2. I am a Hokie.
3. I’m obsessed with instant cameras.
4. I adore anything with Swarovski crystals on it.
5. I am terrified of bugs.
6. Even though I love Jesus with all my heart, I worry about Hell. I fear for myself and for others. If I tell you about Jesus it isn’t to shame you. It’s because I’ve had dreams of hell and I love you (whether I know you well or not) and don’t want that for you.
7. I’m on a diet.
8. My life is dramatically different than I thought it would be in some ways, but so much better. I thought I would go to grad school and have a profession, but then I was called to be at home and I love it.
9. I have Bipolar 1. Sometimes you might notice I seem super happy or sad or high strung. I might be having a mood swing.
10. None of my 3 closest friends live anywhere near me, and it hurts my heart.
11. I’ve been homeschooling my daughter since January when I pulled her out of school for bullying and I love it, but I’m sending her back to school in the Fall.
12. I secretly like some reality tv. Dance Moms, Real Housewives of this, that, and the other thing etc. I absolutely cannot stand to watch the Kardashians though.
13. I dream of going alligator hunting in the bayous of Louisiana. In general hunting doesn’t appeal to me. I have no desire to shoot Bambi. But something about hunting something that’s capable of killing me and going after me right back seems exhilarating.
14. I love art. I don’t claim to be talented, but I love creating art and I love going to art museums. Actually, I love all kinds of museums.
15. I’ve had 6 surgeries.
16. I have 0 tattoos. I respect the art form, but it is not for me.
17. Wild, natural places are my favorite. I long to visit Yellowstone and Glacier. We took a road trip of the Northwest that I liked even better than my honeymoon to Rome.
18. I collect moss balls, Swarovski crystal figurines, vintage Lisa Frank, and so much more.
19. I’m obsessed with dinosaurs.
